Rubber Industry: Mercaptosilanes are widely used in the rubber industry for treating inorganic fillers such as silica, carbon black, glass fiber, mica, etc., to improve the mechanical properties and wear resistance of rubber. For example, γ-mercaptopropyltriethoxysilane (A-189) can replace commonly used polysulfide silanes in low rolling resistance tire formulations, achieving the same performance with a lower dosage.

Metal Surface Treatment: Mercaptosilanes can be used as metal surface rust inhibitors, enhancing the corrosion resistance and antioxidation of metal surfaces, while also increasing their adhesion to resins and other polymer materials. For example, KH580 and KH590 can be used to treat the surfaces of metals such as gold, silver, and copper, enhancing their corrosion resistance and antioxidation.

Some customers also use siwin mercapto silanes to produce mercapto containing silicone oils.
