Vinyl Silane  Vinyl Functional Silane  Crosslink Agent

Vinyl silanes possess two functional groups, namely vinyl and alkoxy groups (hydrolyzable groups). The hydrolyzable groups (methoxy or ethoxy) first hydrolyze with the absence of moisture to form silanol. Due to the instability of silanol, it readily combines with the hydroxyl groups (-OH) on the surface of inorganics or metals through dehydration, thereby bonding with inorganics or metals. The vinyl group (organic functional group) reacts with various polymers, thus tightly combining two materials with completely different properties through chemical bonds.


Vinyl silane is mostly used in cross-link polyethylene cables and pipes.

And in the production of RTV sealants and adhesives, Siwin-V31 (vinyltrimethoxysilane) is used as water scavenger to improve the stability of packed sealants and adhesives.


Vinyl silanes, serving as crosslinking agents and modifiers, are used to improve the properties of polymers. By introducing vinyl silanes, the heat resistance, weatherability, and mechanical properties of polymers can be enhanced, while also improving processing performance and efficiency.  


Specific applications include:

Silane-Crosslinked Polyethylene Cables and Pipes: Vinyl silanes, acting both as coupling agents and crosslinking agents, are widely used in the production of silane-crosslinked polyethylene cables and pipes.


Polyethylene and Polypropylene: Vinyl silanes can be grafted onto the polymer backbone to modify polyethylene and other polymers, endowing them with better wear resistance, impact resistance, and memory properties.


Medicinal Chemistry: Vinyl silanes, serving as intermediates in the synthesis of drugs, are used to synthesize organic compounds with specific pharmacological activities and pharmacokinetic properties. By introducing vinyl silane groups, the polarity and solubility of drug molecules can be altered, affecting the absorption, distribution, metabolism, and excretion processes of the drugs. Specific applications include:


Drug Synthesis: Used to modify the spatial structure and stereoconfiguration of drug molecules, influencing the targeting and selectivity of the drugs.


Other Applications:

Coatings: As a crosslinking agent for coatings, it can improve the adhesion and wear resistance of coatings, forming a coating film with good weatherability and chemical corrosion resistance.


Adhesives: As a crosslinking agent for adhesives, it can form a bonding interface with high strength and good temperature resistance.


Surface Treatment Agents: Used to improve the wettability and adhesiveness of material surfaces, enhancing the wear resistance and corrosion resistance of materials such as glass, ceramics, and metals.


Preparation of High-Purity Materials: Used in the preparation of high-purity materials such as silica dioxide and optical fibers.
