Description

It is an organofucntional silane, having a characteristically aromatic odor. It is a water scavenger designed for the production of moisture-curing construction adhesives and sealants. It hydrolyzes in the presence of moisture (methanol is released) to form silanols, which can then react with themselves to produce siloxanes. The close proximity of the nitrogen atom to the silicon atom results in a greatly accelerated hydrolysis reaction (alpha-effect).
