The main components of silicone sealant include polydimethylsiloxane(usually α,ω-dihydroxypolysiloxane), crosslinking agent, filler, plasticizer, coupling agent, catalyst and other additives. Polydimethylsiloxane is the base polymer of silicone sealant, endowing it with excellent heat resistance, weather resistance and elasticity. The crosslinking agent is used to make silicone form a solid elastomer. Fillers such as calcium carbonate and silicon dioxide are used to increase the volume and improve the physical properties. Plasticizers such as methyl silicone oil are used to improve flexibility and processing properties. The coupling agent is used to improve the compatibility between different materials. The catalyst accelerates the curing process, and other additives such as waterproof agents and anti - ultraviolet agents are used to enhance the comprehensive properties.
Functions of Components Polydimethylsiloxane(usually called OH polymer or 107 rubber): This is the main component of silicone sealant, providing excellent heat resistance, weather resistance and elasticity.
Crosslinking Agent: Promotes the cross - linking reaction between polymer chains and improves the mechanical properties of the sealant, such as
MOS,
VOS,
MTAS,
ETAS......
Filler: Such as silicon dioxide and calcium carbonate, increases the strength, hardness and wear resistance of the sealant, such as
fumed silica......
Plasticizer: Such as
PDMS or white oil, improves the flexibility of the sealant.
Coupling Agent: Improves the compatibility between different materials and ensures that the sealant can effectively bond various substrates, such as
amino silane,
epoxy silane......
Catalyst: Accelerates the curing reaction and enables the sealant to cure rapidly at room temperature, such as Tin catalyst (DBTDL)
Other Additives: Such as waterproof agents and anti - ultraviolet agents, enhance the comprehensive properties of the sealant, such as
LS770 or
UA328......
